Reviewing published pages: "Reviewed on" dates
What a review is
Pages go out of date: a source moves, a figure is replaced by a newer one, a product changes. So every page we published for you comes due for review after a set time - 6 months unless you choose 3 or 12 - and is listed under "Due for review" on the project page, with a notification at most once a week while anything is due. A review takes three steps: 1. Press Check the sources. We open every outside link on the page for you and show which ones did not open. 2. Read the page, and edit anything that is no longer right. 3. Tick the three points - every source link still opens, the figures and dates are still true, anything that changed has been edited - and press Confirm review. Only then is it recorded as reviewed, with your name and the date. Nothing confirms a review for you, and pages are reviewed one at a time. If the page's text changes after you check the sources, check them again before you confirm: the check has to be of the words you are confirming.
What changes, and what does not
A review never changes the page's own date. Search engines use a page's last-modified date when it is accurate, and a date that moves while the words stay the same teaches them to ignore it. So the last-modified date, the sitemap date and the date in the page's structured data move only when the text itself changes. On our own blog a reviewed post shows "Reviewed on" beside its published date. A page on your own site shows the review date here in the app and in your record of what was published: we cannot add a line to a page on WordPress, Shopify, Ghost, Wix or a webhook without sending the page again, and a page sent again gets a new last-modified date - which would re-date words that did not change. On our own blog the sitemap date and the structured data's date read a separate "text changed" date, which moves only when a post's title or wording changes. Adding or removing a video, repairing an image or a summary, and publishing or unpublishing do not move it.
Your AI assistant sees it too
An AI assistant connected through the agent tools sees, for each page published on your own site, the date of its last confirmed review (empty if it has never been reviewed), how often it comes due and when the next review is due, in get_published_evidence. It is a record of the review, not a change to the page.
