| Feature | The Ranking Factory | Otterly.AI |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Grok and DeepSeek the questions buyers ask and reads Google's AI Overviews as a separate surface. Where the answers name competitors instead of the business, it writes the missing evidence from the business's own material, publishes it on the business's own site once that is connected, and measures again. | Calls itself the Content Intelligence Platform for AI Search: tracks prompts daily, audits pages and crawlability, ranks recommendations by impact, and lists a marketplace for placements. |
| Entry price, as shown 29 Sep 2026 | Starter $49 a month, Growth $129, Agency $249, Enterprise $499 (US dollars). Annual plans are ten months for twelve. AI queries run on your own AI keys, and Google AI Overview checks on your own DataForSEO credit (default budget $10 a month on Starter). | Lite $29 a month (15 prompts), Standard $189 (100), Premium $489 (400); US dollars, monthly billing, excluding tax. The annual toggle is 15% off. |
| Engines covered | 3 of 6 engines per run: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Grok and DeepSeek, whichever you connect on your own keys, plus Google AI Overviews as a separate surface. Google's own AI Overview and AI Mode impressions can be imported from a Search Console export. | Lite, Standard and Premium track ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini are paid add-ons. |
| Publishes content for you | Yes. Pages written from the business's own material go to its own site once connected (WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Ghost or a signed webhook), with Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Blogger as supporting pieces and a video on its own YouTube channel. Publishing is on by default; review-before-publishing is a setting. | Not stated for the product itself. Its pages describe audits, recommendations and a placement marketplace; a library page lists a beta n8n agent that turns on-page recommendations into WordPress articles. |
| Agent access (MCP) | Read and write on every plan, the trial included. Writes stay off until you tick a box; five write tools, capped at 30 writes an hour, every attempt audited. | MCP server and public API. The pricing page lists 2,000 MCP requests a month on Standard and 5,000 on Premium. |
| Trial | 14 days on the Growth monthly plan. Card details are taken at sign-up and nothing is charged for 14 days; then $129 a month unless you cancel. The free site check needs no account, card or AI keys. | Free trial with no credit card. The help centre (article dated 4 Aug 2026) says 7 days; the home page says 14 days. |
| Who it is for | Agencies, consultants and in-house teams. | Teams and agencies: unlimited brand reports and team members on every plan, unlimited workspaces on Standard and Premium, and Agency Partner status for agencies on those plans. |

Where Otterly.AI is stronger
- Price to start. Lite is $29 a month with daily tracking, against $49 for The Ranking Factory's Starter (pricing page, 29 Sep 2026). The scope differs: Lite covers 15 prompts and four engines.
- Consumer surfaces. Microsoft Copilot is among the four base engines and Google AI Mode is an add-on (pricing page). The Ranking Factory does not list Copilot and does not measure AI Mode as a surface.
- Daily tracking. Every plan monitors prompts daily (help centre, 17 Jul 2026 article). The Ranking Factory describes weekly measurement runs, and an Evidence Engine that runs on demand on Starter and every 6, 4 or 3 hours on Growth, Agency and Enterprise.
- Data access. CSV and JSON exports on every plan; from Standard, a public API, an MCP server and a Looker Studio connector (help centre, 25 Sep 2026 article; pricing page). The Ranking Factory's route to your numbers is its MCP server.
- Ads tracking. ChatGPT Ads tracking is included on every plan (pricing page). The Ranking Factory states no ads tracking.
- Trial without a card. Otterly.AI's help centre says its trial needs no credit card (article dated 4 Aug 2026). The Ranking Factory's Growth trial takes card details at sign-up and charges nothing for 14 days.
Where The Ranking Factory differs
- Action after measuring. Otterly.AI's pages describe audits, recommendations and a placement marketplace, and do not state that the product itself writes or publishes content; a library page lists a beta n8n agent that turns on-page recommendations into WordPress articles (features page, marketplace page, 29 Sep 2026). The Ranking Factory writes the missing evidence from the business's own pages, videos and statements, publishes it on the business's own site, and asks the same questions again on later runs.
- Engine pricing. Extra engines are add-ons priced by plan: Google AI Mode $9, Gemini $9 and Claude $29 a month on Lite, and $59, $59 and $109 on Standard, monthly billing (pricing page, 29 Sep 2026). The Ranking Factory asks 3 of 6 engines per run on your own AI keys in every plan, so the provider cost sits in your own accounts.
- Who pays for the queries. Otterly.AI's plan prices include the prompt runs (15, 100 and 400 prompts on Lite, Standard and Premium). The Ranking Factory asks the engines through your own AI keys, and Google AI Overview checks use your own DataForSEO credit. For scale, on our own account in September 2026 a weekly run of 10 questions on two or three engines with live search cost $0.55 on average and $1.09 at most, about $2.40 a month per project; writing costs extra and varies with how much is written.
- Ranges and sample sizes. Every rate carries a 95% range and the number of prompt-and-engine pairs behind it. Otterly.AI's help article defines Brand Coverage as the share of AI responses that mention the brand and does not describe ranges or sample sizes there (help centre, 17 Jul 2026 article).
- Agent access. Otterly.AI meters MCP requests: 2,000 a month on Standard and 5,000 on Premium (MCP page, pricing page, 29 Sep 2026). The Ranking Factory's MCP is read and write on every plan, the trial included; writes stay off until you opt in, are capped at 30 an hour and are audited.
- Agencies. The Ranking Factory's Agency plan ($249 a month) includes white-label reports with your logo and details, and one project per client domain.
From our own account, read on 20 September 2026: 32% → 84% of Gemini’s live-search answers cited therankingfactory.com — 6 of 19 on 15 August 2026, 16 of 19 on 24 August 2026, nine days apart on the same model and the same prompt set. In the same 24 August run OpenAI’s live search cited us in 64% of answers (16 of 25) and Perplexity in 40% (10 of 25). Some prompts carry our name, and the run says which.
